About Me
I did not go to St. Alphonsus but to their crosstown rival Sacred Heart. I take the St. Al's Alumni newsletter to see all the names of people to whom I may be related. I tell my relatives that we are related to half the street names in east Dearborn.
My Dad's family belonged to St. Al's since about 1865. My Dad lived on Neckel with his parents Joseph and Nettie Terns and his 9 siblings. Some of the older members may remember them: Albert, Frances, Eleanor, Annabell, William "Bill", Grace, John "Jack", Thomas, Howard and Joseph "Chick". Some graduated from St. Al's and others went to the public high schools-Fordson and Lowrey, I think they all went to the grade school.
My grandmother had a dry goods store on Warren near Schaefer which was later run by my aunt Eleanor and her husband Hal Dorn.
Some of the families that I am related to are the Espers, Ternes and Reuters. |
